Joint Camp

"Joint Camp" is the joint replacement program based on the philosophy that patients who are faced with similar surgeries can help and encourage each other throughout their entire procedure.

Joint Camp begins each week when six patients and their families gather at Amherst Hospital on Sunday evening for a welcome dinner to get to know each other and receive surgery day information.  All surgeries are done the following day on Monday and by Tuesday morning, patients are dressed and beginning their physical therapy sessions with their Joint Camp patient group.

Discharge day is Thursday and many of the patients stay in touch with their fellow "campers" after they leave Amherst Hospital.
