Community
At University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, we strive to improve the health of our community through safe, high quality and cost-effective care. Providing that care, regardless of ability to pay, resulted in more than $47,100,000 in uncompensated care in 2013 – and that amount continues to grow.
Each year, UH Elyria Medical Center participates in several community outreach programs that bring health education and life-saving screenings to people in their own neighborhoods. We provide medical services to the patients of Lorain County Free Clinic, and our employees are passionate about helping those in need through charitable organizations such as the United Way, Harvest for Hunger and the Salvation Army.
Part of Elyria and Lorain County for more than a century, UH Elyria Medical Center also believes in giving back to your community in ways that support other local organizations. We donated $200,000 to the Elyria Schools to help fund the Science Wing at the new high school, and partnered with Lorain County Health & Dentistry to bring two Elyria health center locations that are helping to provide medical care to those who could otherwise not afford it.
University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center and our many affiliated facilities are proud to be part of your community, and to further our unwavering commitment to our mission: To Heal. To Teach. To Discover.
